Open Letter to UACOMP from Student Group,

“AZ Call to Action”:

The Need for Social Justice Reform

This Letter comes from a group of students who have placed social justice at the top of their priorities. Students who have joined their community in protest since June 1st, 2020 and have missed not one day of providing water, snacks, masks, hand sanitizer, and other supplies to keep people healthy and safe as they protested, and continue to protest, downtown during this pandemic and in scalding temperatures.

This letter is signed by a multitude of alumni and students and provides a list of actions the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix can take to “strengthen our institution…[and] shine a light on the structural racism that exists in our society.” The final page includes a collection of personal statements from some of the people who have signed the letter.

**To address potential misconceptions, The Differential has made a few revisions to this story. Both the title and the author were changed to reflect the group who has developed the Open Letter. Furthermore, we would like to make it clear that the Differential’s role is to report on current events within the school and function as an independent and unbiased source of information for students and faculty.**

Full disclosure: Some of the students who are a part of the Differential are also members of the students who have formed this letter and the group of students advocating for social justice.
